Absolute Certainties

What are absolutes certainties in life? They are that we are born and that one day we shall die. So if death is inevitable, why do we not prepare for it as we prepare for birth?

The Bible explains that we can have 1 birth (physical) and 2 deaths (physical and spiritual) or we can have 2 births (physical and spiritual) and 1 death (just physical). It is the latter that we should set our eyes on. All humans comprise the physical and the spirit. The physical may be alive but the spiritual, because of our sinful state (we can never measure up to God’s standard of righteousness) is dead. Where would we be upon death of our body and our spirit remaining dead? Like it or not, the Bible tells us, hell.  Even here on earth, our dead spirit separates us from God. We are blinded and cannot see Him. If we say we are fine without God, we are wrong. We are only fine here on earth because some goodness remains on earth. God is still here. We enjoy earth now only because He is in it. Everything good here is because of Him. To be in hell is to be permanently separated from Him, to be permanently separated from all that you think or know is good on this earth (the birds, the trees, human companionship etc). Imagine just darkness and loneliness and being without the One to whom we are created for.

How do we avoid being permanently separated from Him? Answer: To have our names written in the Book of Life. To be recorded in the Book of Life means we are first to have new life. When we follow Yeshua and make Him our Lord, we are given new birth (spiritual). Our body comes alive once and dies once. Our spirit is given new life, new birth- a 2^nd chance. Yeshua died to prevent us from hell, to prevent us from being eternally separated from Him, the worse fate we could ever have.

Experiencing God subjectively

If God wrote in the sky for all to see “ I AM GOD. I EXIST” this would be confirmation to all that He exists! Why does He not just do that?

Assuming that He did one day write these words,  yes, some will be overcome with fear, some with joy, some with hope.  People will know objectively that He exists. But in the long run, it would not make a difference to us if we do not have His presence in our lives, if we do not experience Him subjectively. We want Him in our joys, in our anxieties, in our times of crises. We want Him to speak to us individually.  This is the miracle that we seek for. I imagined a great leader from Planet X writing on a rainbow,  “I am a great leader from Planet X”  Yes, there will be much hullabaloo at the start. Then it would be answered with a “So?” unless the great leader from Planet X has affected in some way the lives of the people. For those of us who know He exists, let us petition to Him to come into our lives, to let us experience Him, His love. Let us acknowledge Him in all aspects of our lives. Let us practice listening to Him, asking Him to speak to us in every choice we make. Let us not be anxious. Let us rests in Him always. All the affirmation in the world  of His existence will not make an iota of difference if we do not experience Him subjectively.

Rebuilding the Lord’s Altar in Malaysia

Remember we do not just spread the gospel of Jesus to increase numbers in our church. Many do not know that Jesus is already king of every part of our society, our government, our country, our world and many of us who do know, do not act as if we know. We do not live EVERY aspect of our lives in the manner that recognises Him as Lord, as King. How then, are we able to reach those that are not aware of His kingship?

To live with Him as King is to first begin to be His disciple. This means to sit at His feet daily. To do all, emulating Him.  When people see us as His disciples, we will be able to lead others into discipleship. (This could mean leading our spouse, our kids, our siblings, our colleagues etc. We need not be leaders in a positional stand at work to be a leader). It would help if we viewed all of society as our church with corruption problems, unbelief problems,  pride problems etc to be solved. Solved by the bowing of every knee to Jesus. It begins from us as individuals.

Let us today make the choice  to say “ I am determined to be His disciple”  then let us not just by words or good intentions actually yield to Him, actually put Him first before all others (This means no cheating company time, even though you can get away with it,  respecting our parents,  loving the unlovable, acting in gentleness and patience, waking up early in the morning to just be with Him, talking to Him at every moment, listening to Him, studying the scriptures He read, studying the scriptures about Him and others) .
