Genesis 12:2

1.       I shall make a great nation of you. I shall bless you and make your name great and you will be a blessing

Genesis 12:3

2.       I shall bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. In you all families of the earth shall be blessed

Genesis 17:4 -8

3.       You will be a Father of many nations. I will make nations out of you. I will establish my covenant between Me and you and your seed after you to be:

(i)                  A God to you and your seed after you;

(ii)                Land was given

2. Who is this seed?

Clue (a) – Genesis 17:15

Sarah will be the mother of many nations

Genesis 17:19

Sarah your wife will indeed bear a son for you and you will call his name Isaac. And I shall establish My Covenant with Him and with his seed after him.

Therefore ‘seed’ is From Isaac (see also Genesis 26:24)

Genesis 21:12

“… your seed will be called in Isaac”

Clue (b) – Genesis 28:13-15

I AM promised/repeats covenants of Abraham to Jacob “…in you and to your seed”

(i)                  God gives the land

(ii)                All families on earth will be blessed

(iii)               Jacob’s seed will be as dust on the earth

Therefore ‘seed’ is  From Jacob

3. Clue (c) Romans 9:6-8

(i) not all from Israel are Israel (not every Israel is a committed servant of God)

(ii) not all children are the seed of Abraham but those of Isaac the child of the promise, not child of the flesh.

Abraham had 2 sons one from the slave and one from the free wife.

Therefore ‘seed’= only those born of the promise, born according to the Spirit

4.                   To recap- What is the covenant to Abraham Isaac Jacob and their seed? (seed = those born through the Spirit) that He will be our God (physical promises land)

Clue (d) – Those who are from faith these are the sons of Abraham. Galatians 3:7

Galatians 3:26-29 – “for you are all children of God through faith in Messiah Yeshua for as many of you were immersed into the Messiah you have been clothed with the Messiah”

“And if you are of Messiah then you are the seed of Abraham heirs according to the promise”

5. By Virtue we are grafted in

Romans 11:17

(We would be participants of the richness of the root of the tree.* We are part of this tree part of the covenants)

* Dulled perception of Israel is for our benefit but this dulled perception is only temporary. It will be so until the fullness of the heathens (group of nations) come in. (Romans 11:25)

Jeremiah 31:30-33

He has said that He will make a “new” covenant with the House of Israel and House of Judah. The covenant:- that He will put His Torah into their hearts. He will be their God and they will be His People.
